Development of Vibration Control Structure on Suspended Ceiling Using Pulley Mechanism

A suspended ceiling system (SCS) is one of the most fragile and non-structural elements during earthquakes. However, effective seismic protection technologies for enhancing have not been developed other than steel bracing system. An innovative passive vibration control proposed in this paper, which equipped a damper-employed pulley amplification mechanism into indirect system, named pulley–damper (PDCS). Theoretical formulation detailed information on were presented first. In addition, new rotational damper composition consisting non-linear viscous was to follow large wire-cable stroke. Six types full-scale specimens 15.6-square meter area with different configurations constructed preliminary experiments evaluate performance feasibility PDCS under simulated earthquake motions. The comparative results shake table test demonstrated that application capable controlling both displacement acceleration panels.
